Employee Ditching – A common problem

Employee ditching is a very common problem. It happens with many companies who don't want to tie the employees to their organization by means of bond system. The employees takes this for granted and takes steps which tarnishes their image in the long run. An organization should always trust its employees but yes there has to be certain defined level or the employees take their trust for a ride. Small organizations generally don't levy too much rules and regulations and gives freedom to its employees. It really helps in proper working of the system but when a trusted employee ditches you it really hurts. Yeah i will give you an example. One of the employees left the previous organization to join new company. He left the company on 4th January 2010 without informing the management and started working in some other organization and disclosed it on a phone call. Such an act will not help an employee in rising up the ladder. The time the truth is disclosed that will be the end of the progressing career. Trust once lost is lost forever. It takes a life time to build credibility and only a second to destroy it. An employee should never break the good bond which they share with their present or previous employer because you never know when a HR person calls them for second round of reference check. Almost all companies checks credibility of an employee before hiring them. Ditching may give sleepless nights in the long run.

Every organization is connected to each other by some or other way on Twitter, Face book, MySpace or other common platforms where we share information. Tarnishing an image in one organization will lead to bad image in other organization's too which are connected together. Employees should think twice before leaving a company without informing.

Its always better to inform the previous employer one month or two months in advance before seeking new job so that work does not gets hampered. In the long run such a behavior with land any employee in to a troublesome situation. This also shows an employees casual approach to his commitment towards the organization and work.
